Things started out a bit rocky last evening and early this morning. Nausea and minor vomiting. Fortunately, settled down by the time I woke up in time for more meds and infusions. It was also fairly stormy outside as I could hear the wind and rain right outside my window. Sometimes, it was also a helicopter flying in as the pad is a couple stories above me. Mostly not bringing in patients, but organs for transplants.
Sleeping is often a challenge. Not only because I’m a side sleeper and it’s near impossible in a hospital bed, but the night is frequently interrupted by checking my vitals every few hours and/or one of several buzzers or alarms going off on one of my machines. The pole machine is the loudest. I think I mentioned that I have to call the nurses’ station each time to let them know as they can’t hear it through my double door room that’s pretty soundproof. Would make for a good murder mystery.
They've been encouraging me to use a walker, so with the combined search efforts of Eva, Polly, Kaiser, Stanford and Medicare, I'm getting a brand new one through Kaiser for the grand co-pay of $14.66!
Seven doctors and fellows came in to assess and they feel it’s possible for me to be discharged by this weekend if things go smoothly. Still possible dangerous side-effects while I’m at the Marriott, but hopefully less so as time goes on. The cardiologist will monitor me using a remote patch, and Eva will monitor me for fever and disorientation at the hotel.
